Secondo voi i nostri nonni alla nostra età avevano i telefoni cellulari?
La risposta è un grandissimo no! Anzi loro avevano i telefoni quelli vecchi con il filo dove per chiamare dovevi girare la rotella dei numeri e sperare di averlo fatto bene.
I telefoni cellulari sono nati proprio quando i nostri genitori sono nati, loro hanno visto la nascita di tutta la tecnologia che usiamo quotidianamente per comunicare e condividere opzioni e informazioni con gli altri.
Ci sono diverse generazioni e ognuna di queste ha fatto scoperte e invenzioni nuove, sempre più moderne;
I baby Boomer
C’è la generazione dei baby boomer dove i cellulari che conosciamo oggi erano molto lontani da tutti loro. Quando pensiamo ai baby boomer pensiamo proprio a coloro che sanno solo mandare il buongiorno e la buonanotte e che sanno usare a mala pena whatsapp ma dei veri e propri geni su Facebook. Per rispondere ai nostri dubbi, un gruppo di studenti hanno intervistato un nostro prof della generazione baby boomer ovvero: Danilo de Santis.
Le domande che gli abbiamo fatto sono quelle che ci chiediamo quando pensiamo a questa generazione tipo:
Come hai vissuto il cambiamento tecnologico?
Il prof è stato uno dei primi laureati in informatica in Italia, e di conseguenza ha vissuto il boom dell’informatica, quando ancora esistevano delle tecnologie prototipali ha avuto la fortuna di incontrare Bill Gates, lavorare in America ecc… Il professore studiava la comunicazione proprio come materia universitaria, non era solo un linguaggio di programmazione, ma sostiene che era nata come filosofia e non come tecnologia, e di conseguenza tutto avveniva con una sintassi, e semantica completamente differente da quella che è oggi l’informatica.
Cosa pensa delle generazioni di oggi?
Ci dice che la sua generazione ha fatto nell’informatica qualcosa di innovativo, e i baby boomer devono lasciare il passo alle generazioni di ora, e stai a noi decidere cosa fare del nostro futuro, sostenendo di averlo già fatto e di essere verso la fine della sua carriera professionale lasciando lo spazio a tutti noi, ma con una promessa ovvero di non cercare di dimenticare il progresso fatto in tutti questi anni.
Si ricorda quando ha ricevuto il suo primo smartphone?
“Ho avuto uno dei primi cellulari fatti dall’italtel. Era una valigetta fatta dalla Motorola, e lo usavo come strumento professionale, solo per fare ciò che mi serviva veramente perché ancora ero alle prime armi e sono stato uno dei primi in Italia ad averlo, ero veramente contento ma allo stesso tempo affascinato.”
E per ultimo abbiamo chiesto se avesse qualcosa da dire alle nuove generazioni sull’uso delle tecnologie?
E il prof consiglia alla nostra generazione di stare attenti a internet, consiglia di informarci bene su cosa sia l’intelligenza artificiale, e di aprire gli occhi perché la nostra generazione è il futuro, e con la nostra collaborazione possiamo mettere ordine e far sì che tutti possiamo vivere un mondo sano e migliore.
La generazione X
Poi c’è la generazione X, si proprio quella di alcuni genitori e alcuni nonni ma anche dei nostri prof. Per aiutarci a capire meglio questa generazione e a scoprire di più su di loro abbiamo intervistato e curiosato tra i nostri genitori e ci rispondono così:
Quando hai iniziato a usare i social media?
Ho iniziato a utilizzare i social media nel 1994. A quel tempo erano molto semplici rispetto a oggi, con strumenti e piattaforme limitati.
Come ascoltavi la musica?
Quando volevamo ascoltare la musica preferita attaccavo le cuffie al Walkman inserivo le cassette e li cliccavo PLAY e li iniziava la festa nelle mie cuffie!
Come contattavi i tuoi amici o i tuoi familiari prima dei social media?
Beh, io andavo alle cabine telefoniche con delle tessere prepagate e chiamavo da lì chiunque volevo perché il telefono a casa costava troppo, si usava anche fare gli squilli ai propri amici per far capire che volevamo uscire, la vostra generazione non saprà mai cosa vuol dire perché ormai funziona tutto da un messaggio di Instagram, ma prima noi passavamo le giornate fuori con gli amici al posto di stare le giornate sui telefoni guardando tik tok.
I Millenials
Per continuare abbiamo i Millennials nati tra il 1980 e 1994 chiamati anche come generazione Y, che conosciamo tutti come i nostri genitori o anche i nostri tutor ed educatori. Loro sono cresciuti con l’evoluzione del telefono, dei social e di tutta la tecnologia, fino ad oggi. Vi siete mai chiesti cosa faranno o come è stato il loro percorso con i social? Noi sì e abbiamo intervistato una nostra educatrice Silvia e anche alcuni nostri parenti.
Le domande che abbiamo deciso di fare loro sono state:
Quando hai iniziato ad utilizzare i social media? E qual è stato il primo social?
Da quel che ci hanno raccontato, spesso l’hanno cominciato ad utilizzare già da grandi tra i 20-21 anni, ma ovviamente non tutti visto che la maggioranza sono cresciuti avendo qualche dispositivo in mano, sia un computer, un televisore, un cellulare, ecc. Il primo social che ha utilizzato è stato Facebook.
Per cosa utilizzi i social? E quali utilizzi di più?
I social che utilizza di più sono Facebook che ormai tutti sappiamo cos’è e anche se diciamo che lo usano solo i vecchi ma in realtà anche i Millenials lo trovano interessante e soprattutto divertente per i post che permette pubblicare e anche commentare, per i video che puoi vedere, chattare con amici e parenti lontani, guardare eventi interessanti a cui partecipare, comprare e anche vendere cose che non usi per ricavarci qualcosa. Un altro social che conoscono e che usano di più è Whatsapp, che lo utilizzano come metodo per i gruppi di lavoro ma non solo quello anche per parlare con amici, familiari, inviare emoji che non hanno senso ma che per loro fanno un sacco ridere, strano, vero?!
Poi c’è YouTube che conosciamo tutti, i nostri cari millenials cercano dei video di interesse vari. Mentre noi la utilizziamo per ascoltare musica un po’ come Spotify che per loro è solo un clone di YouTube perché tanto la musica si trova anche lì e lì è molto più semplice cercare e ascoltare.
La generazione Z
Ah, e non dimentichiamo dei più importanti cioè la generazione Z o come la chiamano tutti la generazione dei social. Noi siamo nati proprio con i social e i primi iPhone, la nostra generazione porterà avanti ancora di più la tecnologia per sempre. In questo ultimo periodo usiamo anche la nuova scoperta A.I. oppure l’intelligenza artificiale o ancora più semplice Chat GPT, che ormai conoscono tutti per farsi fare i compiti o per fargli banalissime domande.
Abbiamo intervistato dei giovani della Generazione Z per capire come usano i social media, la tecnologia e l’intelligenza artificiale (IA) nella loro vita quotidiana. Le loro risposte ci mostrano come questi strumenti siano diventati importanti per loro. Ha cominciato a usare i social media quando aveva 11 anni, scegliendo Instagram e WhatsApp per parlare con gli amici. All’inizio li trovava solo un modo comodo per chattare e guardare video. Oggi, i social che usa di più sono WhatsApp e TikTok. Passa circa 2-3 ore al giorno. Questo è un pensiero comune tra i giovani, che a volte non si preoccupano dei rischi legati alla condivisione dei dati.
Generazione Alpha
E per quasi ultima abbiamo gli Alpha ovvero i nostri cuginetti o i nostri fratelli e sorelle, se noi chiedessimo a loro per cosa usano i telefoni o qualunque altro Device come la playstation o la nintendo o anche un computer, diranno sempre che li usano per passare il tempo sui videogame oppure su youtube o anche twitch a vedere i loro streamer preferiti…
Le generazioni continueranno per sempre e da ora in poi chiunque sia la prossima dopo di noi continueranno a crescere con la tecnologia, fino ai robot e fino a quando l’intelligenza artificiale (A.I.) sarà superiore a tutto e tutti.

Generations and their attitude towards the Internet and technology
Do you think our grandparents had mobile phones?
The answer is a huge no! In fact they had phones, the old ones with the wire where to call you had to turn the number dial and hope you did it right.
Mobile phones were born just when our parents were born, they saw the birth of all the technology we use daily to communicate and share opinons and information.
There are several generations and each of them has made new discoveries and inventions, more and more modern;
There is the Baby Boomer generation where the cell phones we know today were far in the future. When we think of Baby Boomers, we think of those who only know how to send “good morning” and “good night” and who barely know how to use WhatsApp but are real geniuses on Facebook. To answer our doubts, a group of students interviewed one of our teachers from the Baby Boomer generation, namely: Danilo de Santis.
The questions we asked him are the ones we ask ourselves when we think of this generation like:
How did you experience the technological change?
The professor was one of the first graduates in computer science in Italy, and consequently he experienced the boom of computer science- When prototype technologies still existed he was lucky enough to meet Bill Gates, work in America etc… The professor studied communication as a university subject, it was not only a programming language, but he argues that it was born as a philosophy and not as a technology, and consequently everything happened with a syntax and semantics completely different from what is today’s computer science.
What do you think of today’s generations?
He tells us that his generation has done something innovative in information technology, and baby boomers must give way to the current generations, and it is up to us to decide what to do with our future, claiming that we have already done so and that we are towards the end of his professional career leaving room for all of us, but with a promise or not to try to forget the progress made in all these years.
Do you remember when you received your first smartphone?
“I had one of the first cell phones made by italtel. It was a briefcase made by Motorola, and I used it as a professional tool, just to do what I really needed because I was still a beginner and I was one of the first in Italy to have it, I was really happy but at the same time fascinated.”
And finally we asked if you have something to say to the new generations about the use of technologies?
And the teacher advises our generation to be careful with the internet, advises to seek information about what artificial intelligence is, and to open our eyes because our generation is the future, and with our collaboration we can put things in order and ensure that we can all live a healthy and better world.
Then there is generation X, yes precisely that of some parents and some grandparents but also of our teachers. To help us better understand this generation and find out more about them, we interviewed and snooped among our parents and they answered like this:
When did you start using social media? I started using social media in 1994. At that time they were very simple compared to today, with limited tools and platforms.
How did you listen to music? When we wanted to listen to my favorite music I attached the headphones to the Walkman I inserted the cassettes and clicked PLAY and started the party in my headphones!
How did you contact your friends or family members before social media? Well, I used to go to the phone booths with prepaid cards and call from there whoever I wanted because the phone at home was too expensive, you also used to ring your friends to make it clear that you wanted to go out, your generation will never know what it means because now everything works from an Instagram message, but before we spent the days outdoors with friends instead of spending the days on the phones watching Tik Tok.
To continue, we have the Millennials born between 1980 and 1994 also called generation Y, which we all know as our parents or even our tutors and educators. They grew up with the evolution of the phone, social media and all the technology, until today. Have you ever wondered what they will do or how was their path with social media? We did and we interviewed one of our educators Silvia and also some of our relatives.
The questions we decided to ask them were:
When did you start using social media? And what was the first social?
From what they told us, they often started using it when they were adults between 20-21 years old, but obviously not all of them since the majority grew up with some device in hand, be it a computer, a television, a cell phone, etc. The first social network he used was Facebook.
What do you use social media for? And which ones do you use the most?
The social networks he uses the most are Facebook that we now all know what it is and even if we say that only the old people use it but in reality even the Millenials find it interesting and above all funny for the posts that it allows you to publish and even comment, for the videos you can see, chat with friends and distant relatives, watch interesting events to participate in, buy and even sell things that you don’t use to get something out of it. Another social network that they know and use the most is Whatsapp, which they use as a method for work groups but not only also to talk to friends, family, send emojis that don’t make sense but that make them a lot of fun, strange, isn’t it?!
Then there is YouTube that we all know, our dear millennials are looking for videos of various interest. While we use it to listen to music a bit like Spotify which for them is just a clone of YouTube because music is also found there and there it is much easier to search and listen.
Oh, and let’s not forget the most important ones, namely generation Z or as everyone calls it the social media generation. We were born with social media and the first iPhones, our generation will carry technology even further forever. In this last period we also use the new discovery A.I. or artificial intelligence or even simpler Chat GPT, which everyone now knows to get their homework done or to ask them very trivial questions.
We interviewed young people from Generation Z to understand how they use social media, technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in their daily lives. Their answers show us how these tools have become important to them. He started using social media when he was 11 years old, choosing Instagram and WhatsApp to talk to friends. At first he found them just a convenient way to chat and watch videos. Today, the social networks he uses the most are WhatsApp and TikTok. He spends about 2-3 hours a day on them. This is a common thought among young people, who sometimes don’t care about the risks associated with data sharing.
And almost finally we have the Alphas or our little cousins or our brothers and sisters, if we asked them what they use phones or any other device for like the playstation or the nintendo or even a computer, they will always say that they use them to spend time on video games or on youtube or even twitch to see their favorite streamers…
Generations will continue forever and from now on whoever is next after us will continue to grow with technology, up to robots and until artificial intelligence (A.I.) is superior to everything and everyone.
